Canadian singer/songwriter, Emily Ruth is gearing up to release her new single, 'And Yet (I Will Praise)' on Mar. 8.

Writing music for others to hear was never the main goal for her. "I never expected anyone else to hear it, to be honest. It was all very much written as I'm processing my feelings and processing sorrow and waiting and feelings like that and just doing that with God."

"Every time I perform my original music, I just ask God to reveal to me one person, just one person that was impacted," Ruth shares.

Helping to impact one person helps to bring assurance in what she's doing. "That can just encourage my heart to know I'm doing the right thing by going out here and doing this and He has been so faithful to always show me that one person or multiple where I'll perform and have people come up and just say, 'You know, I never had words for what I was going through or what I'm going through right now. But that song breaking point is like where I'm at right now.'"

Getting comments like that encourages Ruth to keep going. "I just praise God because I know that it's all Him like, all glory to Him. I know that that's not something I'm doing in my own strength. That's Him using my gifts to be able to encourage and bless other people. And I'm so grateful to be part of that experience."

Sometimes the vulnerability is what really connects with listeners, something that Ruth is doing once again with the release of 'And Yet (I Will Praise)' on Mar. 8.

"This song was written when I was in a really low place. I went through a huge life transition. I didn't expect and was really grieving and I just sat down at the piano crying. And I was like, God, I just need to bring to You what I'm feeling," Ruth shares as she sees God's grace over the last number of years.

Over the hard moments, is what it took for Ruth to fully trust God and know that He has everything in His hands is the reminder she hopes people take away after listening to the song.

"My hope is that people can hear this song who might be in a place of grief or sorrow or depression. And be reminded that God is faithful even when we don't feel it, even when we can't see where He's going and what the end goal is, He is still faithful, and we need to just seek to trust Him more in the midst of what we're feeling, while also bringing to Him those very real emotions of pain, sorrow, grief, and not shying away from that either."
