The Winnipeg Jets dropped a 4-2 decision to the Montreal Canadiens Monday night at Bell MTS Place.

Tyler Toffoli had two goals and an assist for the Habs.

Toffoli scored his 16th of the season with just 47 seconds remaining in the second period to exend Montreal's lead to 3-1. He added his second of the night into an empty net with 48 seconds remaining in regulation.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Josh Anderson also scored for the Canadiens.

Kyle Connor had a pair of power play goals for the Jets who reached the midway point of the season with a 17-9-2 record.

Winnipeg goaltender Connor Hellebuyck faced 30 shots while Montreal's Carey Price made 34 saves in his 700th National Hockey League game.

The Jets and Canadiens meet again Wednesday night and then Winnipeg will begin a seven-game Western Canada road trip.
