The Winnipeg Jets outshot Colorado 40-25 including a 19-9 margin in the third period but couldn't find the back of the net and lost 4-0 to the Avalanche Tuesday night at Bell MTS Place.

The Avalanche received a stellar performance from Adam Werner in his NHL debut.

The 22-year-old from Mariestad, Sweden replaced Pavel Francouz 31 seconds into the game after Colorado's starting goalie was injured in a collision in his crease with Jets center Mark Scheifele.

Nathan MacKinnon scored twice for the Avalanche and drew assists on goals by Cale Makar and Joonas Donskoi.

Brandon product Matt Calvert chipped in with a pair of helpers.

Winnipeg netminder Connor Hellebuyck stopped 21 of 25 shots.

The Jets (10-8-1), who saw their five-game point streak come to an end, will begin a four-game road trip Thursday when they meet the Florida Panthers.
