It's the first official day of autumn and, according to Environment Canada, it's going to be a pretty nice season.

September 22 marks the first day of fall, but John Paul Cragg, a Warning Preparedness Meteorologist with Environment Canada, says that it should be a warm one.

"Looking at the model data, [we see] a warmer than average fall for most of southern Manitoba," Cragg said.

This doesn't mean we'll be seeing +30°C weather, but we could start seeing the weather warm back up to +20°C once this system bringing rain and clouds moves out of Manitoba.

"Almost every fall we will see those up and down temperatures," Cragg pointed out. On the whole, though, he said we're looking at a warm fall.

As for the precipitation models, they currently show a similar chance of it being above and below average. Cragg did mention that no snow appears to be in the immediate forecast.

What's Cragg's favorite thing about fall? "Playing the leaves with my kids."
