Lauren Daigle's dreams are coming true as she takes home the Top Christian Artist Award during the Billboard Music Awards (BBMA's) virtual ceremony.

Other nominees for Top Christian Artist in 2020 were Elevation Worship, For King & Country, Hillsong United, and Kanye West, who took home four awards in the six Christian music award categories. Winners were announced alongside performances to an empty auditorium on Wednesday, October 14.

The host askes Daigle about her faith during the video interview, and she shares about her childhood, dreaming of this day.

"When I was a little girl, growing up in Louisianna, I would dream about days like this," says Daigle.

She reminisces about picturing herself in front of the mirror brushing her teeth as a child, envisioning this moment.

"To be here today, it is wild, and honestly, a crazy adventure and I'm so excited to be apart of it."

The host also asked Daigle which verse gives her hope, especially during a year like this.

"I always go back to the one verse that stood with me through the testing of time, and it's Proverbs 16:9. It says, 'Man may choose his path but the Lord directs his steps.' There's some sort of security in that. I might stumble, there might be things that get me off track but that verse, knowing that He holds the future, He holds every step along the way, that's the verse I cling to."

Daigle just recently performed a live stream concert alongside Red Cross and The Salvation Army to help raise money for relief efforts after Hurricane Laura caused so much damage in Louisianna.

"People want to be a part of something good right now."

Her latest album is two years old as Look Up Child was released on September 7, 2018.
