After a bit of a dry spell, Colton Dixon fans are getting some new music from the Christian artist.

On Friday, Dixon released his new single, "Made to Fly." The release was announced on Dixon's Instagram.

"'Made To Fly' is out now!," Dixon writes.

"It’s been some time since I released new music so I’m excited for you guys to hear this one."

Dixon's most recent album, Identity, was released in March 2017.

The song starts out with an old gospel organ and piano feel before Dixon's crystal-clear vocals cut through the vibe.

The mellow feeling only lasts as long as the first verse, however, when the beat drops and Dixon adopts a punchier, more rhythmic pre-chorus, eventually giving way to a blended chorus of gospel beats.

The song talks about reaching beyond present circumstances and trusting in God to deliver you to the other side of your situation.

"Mama always showed me, there's more to life / Than coppеr pennies and silver dimеs / So rest your head, child, it'll be alright / Just keep knocking and ye shall find," Dixon's second verse croons.

In the chorus, Dixon sings: "If you need freedom, look to the sky / 'Cause hope is waiting on the other side / Sing hallelujah (Hallelujah) by and by / Don't stop at walking when you were made to fly."

Dixon is also performing as part of a drive-in theatre tour this year alongside other Christian artists Skillet and Jordan Feliz.
