Bridge Drive-In (BDI) opened Friday with a drive-thru, only to close again after being a little too popular.

It was two glorious days for ice cream lovers in Winnipeg.

BDI opened Friday at it's Jubilee Avenue location to customers using a new drive-thru design to accommodate social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The shop's service plan, however, worked a little too well for BDI's cramped location.

"I like ice cream as much as the next person, but this drive-thru ice cream idea is blocking driveways & disturbing the neighbourhood," one Jubilee resident tweeted.

"Really hoping there isn’t an endless lineup of idling cars in our neighborhood all summer."

Upon realizing the difficulties and delays caused by the new model, BDI once again closed its operations.

The business says it made a mistake and hopes to reopen again with socially-distanced service to pedestrian traffic, in typical BDI style.
