Students at Ecole Viscount Alexander are getting ready to take on the 30 Hour Famine challenge as they raise money for the hungry.

30 hour famine
The 30 Hour Famine is a challenge from World Vision. The mission is to 'go hungry to help hungry kids'. Hundreds of thousands of students participate every year as they raise money to feed hungry children before participating in the main event, which involves the students going for a full 30 hours without eating.

"I decided to participate because I feel like I really need to make a difference," Kevin said, one of the students here in Winnipeg pledging to go 30 hours without food. "I hope that I can make a difference, and I hope people will realize that it's a big deal."

Jillian, another student at Ecole Viscount Alexander, has done fundraisers like this in the past, and wants to continue to make an impact. However, she has never gone without food for this long before.

"Not very long," she said. "Maybe only six or seven hours?"

The team from Ecole Viscount Alexander consists of 20 people and is looking to raise $3000 towards the hungry. According to World Vision, just $40 can feed a child for a month.

"In doing this, I hope that I help out lots of the kids around the world that are going hungry," said another participant from the school, Aiden. "I hope that doing this could help them in one way or another by getting them food and water."
