A busy bridge that helps Winnipeggers get from Point Douglas to Elmwood will be closed for two weeks.

The city says the Louise Bridge will close on Monday, June 17 at 6 a.m. for annual maintenance. It will remain closed until 6 p.m. on Friday, June 28.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and allow for additional time to get to their destinations.

The city says anyone travelling downtown from westbound Nairn Avenue or southbound Stadacona Street should use Midwinter Avenue to the Disraeli Bridge as an alternate route.

Pedestrian access will remain available on one side of the bridge throughout the road closure.
