Countless people sing his songs in churches every week around the globe, but few realize recording artist Mack Brock is the songwriter behind them.

Over the past few years, Brock has experienced plenty of changes in his career in ministry and music, but also in his family life.

A founding member of Elevation Worship, Brock moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, to help start the worship team. He spent ten years there before he sensed the Lord calling him elsewhere.

"I felt like the Lord was telling us our season there was done, and our assignment there was done, and we needed to step out into something new," said Mack Brock. "We didn't know what that would look like, but tried to be obedient to that, and since then, I've just continued to make music, write songs, lead worship."

He says the transition to a solo artist was weird for him.

"It's still weird because, you know, even growing up, I always played in bands, and I like being a part of a team, and solo mentality just doesn't work. It feels uncomfortable to me," said Mack Brock. "Even though I'm 'Mack Brock,' the worship artist, I'm still surrounded by a team of people, and I am so grateful for that aspect of it."

Not only has Mack experienced changes in his music career, but he has also made some big changes when it comes to his family, including becoming a foster parent.

"It was one of those things that for my wife, was always on her heart," said Brock. "She brought it up to me, and I was like, 'Cool, I don't know if I'm cut out for that.'"

He agreed to take classes and start the process of becoming licensed, and it was through that journey that the Lord changed Mack's heart.

"He just opened my heart. He gave me a heart that was passionate about foster youth and foster kids and what the need that is there."

It's been four years since they started this journey. About three and a half years ago, a boy named Zamir came into their lives. The pair fostered him and just this past month finalized his adoption.

"It's such a blessing," said Mack.

Mack is now preparing to release a new song, followed by a full-length album later this year.
