A 33-year-old Winnipeg man was arrested for possession of drugs, a weapon, and cash. 

On January 4, 2023, members of the Guns & Gangs Unit entered into a drug investigation yielding over $52,000 worth of fentanyl, a loaded firearm and cash proceeds of crime. 

An adult male was taken into custody at a hotel suite in the 200 block of Main Street. A subsequent search warrant was executed on one of the suites. As a result of this investigation, the following items were seized:

- a loaded shotgun and ammunition
- approximately 15 ounces of fentanyl (estimated street value of $52,000)
- $3,900 Canadian currency
- drug packaging materials

Ryan Frederick Johnston, a 33-year-old male of Winnipeg, was charged with the following offences:

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regs
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized x 2
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2

He is detained in custody.
