One man remains in critical condition in the hospital after being struck by a train in Winnipeg.

On Friday, June 7, around 5:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) went to Concordia Avenue East and Peguis Street near train tracks after they received report that someone had been hit by a train.

After the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) got to the scene, they saw a 29-year-old male and transported him to the hospital. From the initial investigation it sounds like the man was walking along the tracks when he was struck by a westbound freight train.

At the time of the event the WPS shut down the roadways for safety and to investigate further.

The WPS Traffic Division continues to investigate. Police also are reminding people to use caution when around train tracks for any sort of activity.
