Officials say they have recently issued over $20,000 in tickets for not following the public health orders.

 

Enforcement

Last week 10 tickets and 27 warnings were issued for noncompliance with the health orders.

The province gave out an $8,550 ticket to an individual for the Federal Quarantine Act. The only other time Manitoba has issued a ticket of this amount was in the July 19-25 time period. Others have previously been fined $5,150 for this offence.

Other tickets include:

  • four $298 tickets to individuals for failure to wear a mask in an indoor public place
  • three $1,296 tickets to individuals
  • two $5,000 tickets to businesses

 

New cases

The province says a man in his 20s has died of COVID-19. This moves the total number of deaths to 1,189.

After 56 newly confirmed cases of CVID-19, the total number of confirmed cases is 58,479. There are 443 active cases and 56,847 recoveries.

Manitoba's five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 2.8 per cent and Winnipeg's rate is 1.5 per cent.

In hospital, there are 65 people, with 47 of those who are no longer infectious. In intensive care, there are 21 people with 17 who are no longer infectious.

 

Testing site closure

The COVID-19 testing site at 2735 Pembina Highway closed due to the building needing construction work. The province says 1 Research Road's drive-up testing site continues to operate.

 

Outbreak updates

Sagkeeng First Nation's George M. Guimond Care Centre is experiencing an outbreak.

"The facility has been moved to the Critical (Red) level on the #RestartMB Pandemic Response System," the province says in a statement,

Selkirk Regional Health Centre's Surgical Unit is no longer in an outbreak.
