A Manitoba mom from Tyndall wanted something different for her kids' devotional time and created her own.

Allison Reimer has been teaching Sunday School in the inner city for 20 years now and became a mom ten years ago. Reimer has a ten-year-old son and a seven-year-old daughter. She understands kids who have high energy and are easily distracted.

Reimer said that over the years she has been trying to figure out the best way to teach the Bible and encourage her kids to read the Bible at home.

She had used different devotional books and online resources and didn't find what would work for her family.

Using the knowledge of her web design background and motivated to reach her kids, she took on the task and created a colourful, interactive online devotional that is called My Faith Adventures.

Reimer said, "What I wanted to do is create a resource for parents that would help them to encourage a daily Bible reading habit in their kids and that would not necessarily compete with the technology time but to be a part of their technology time."

Reimer explained that the devotionals are categorized by age, from pre-readers to independent readers.

At the end of each devotional time, there is a very simple review question which makes them go back and think about the Bible verse they just read and what they learned from it.

They have to answer that question and then once they do that, it unlocks a surprise. That surprise can be an online game that they play, a video, or a printable downloadable activity like a colouring sheet. Every week there's new content and there's one week's worth of devotionals up at one time.

The devotionals are based on characters named A.J. and Milo. They are similar to Reimer's own son and daughter and the stories are based on real-life situations in their own lives.

My Faith Adventures can be found online at www.myfaithadventures.com as well as Instagram and Facebook.
