New COVID-19 cases in Manitoba continue to follow a steady decline after weeks of troubling caseloads.

As of Tuesday morning, there are 69 new COVID-19 cases in Manitoba. Cases include:

  • 33 cases in the Winnipeg health region
  • 16 cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region
  • 15 cases in the Northern health region
  • four cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region
  • one case in the Prairie Mountain Health region

There are 1,860 active cases and 52,478 recoveries. The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 7.6 per cent in Manitoba, and 6.6 per cent in Winnipeg. 

A data correction from the province says seven previously identified cases have been removed, bring the total number of cases to 55,467.

Four new deaths are being announced, including:

  • a male in his 20s from the Interlake-Eastern health region, linked to the B.1.1.7 (alpha) variant of concern
  • a male in his 60s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region, linked to the alpha variant of concern
  • a female in her 70s from the Winnipeg health region linked to the unspecified variant of concern
  • a female in her 70s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the alpha variant of concern

This brings the total number of deaths to 1,129.

In the hospital, there are 224 people, with 210 of those in Manitoba. 

There are 123 people in hospital in Manitoba with active COVID cases, including 34 of the 57 intensive care patients.

In Ontario, there are 13 ICU patients and one ICU patient is in Alberta. 

The Dauphin River Health Centre medical unit and St. Maurice Daycare Inc. outbreaks are over.
