Two security guards are recovering after being assaulted during a robbery Saturday night.

Winnipeg police were called to a retail business in the first block of Osborne Street after receiving multiple reports of a robbery underway involving several suspects who were also damaging property.

Three of the suspects were located inside and outside of the business and were quickly placed under arrest. A fourth suspect fled before police arrived.

A pair of security guards, a 20-year-old male and a 21-year-old male, were assaulted during the incident and suffered minor injuries. They did not require medical attention.

Police say the suspects confronted the security guards outside of the business. They started verbally attacking them before physically assaulting them as they tried to go back into the business.

The suspects then stole cosmetic products valued at approximately $800 and demanded money from the register, which they did not receive. They then began breaking merchandise, causing around $5,000 in damage.

An 18-year-old male, an 18-year-old female, and a 17-year-old female face numerous charges. They have all been released on Undertakings as mandated by the Criminal Code.

The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
