The RCMP has confirmed that two missing hunters from Winnipeg have been located deceased.

The RCMP said in a release that a search helicopter located the two missing hunters in the water of Lake Winnipeg, south of Grand Rapids, on September 25, around 1:00 p.m.

RCMP said that the remoteness of the location made it difficult to reach the men and confirm their identities.

Police say that the men were located together and the deaths do not appear suspicious.

The men, aged 60 and 73, were part of a larger group but went out together on ATVs early Sunday afternoon. RCMP were notified early Monday morning that the men had not returned.

RCMP say that one of the ATVs was located, but that the second ATV has not. They believe it to be in the water.

Autopsies have been ordered. Grand Rapids RCMP continues to investigate.

Grand Rapids is approximately 394 KM north-northwest of Winnipeg.
