Six new confirmed human cases of West Nile Virus have been reported in Manitoba.

Manitoba Health reports three new cases have been identified in the Interlake-Eastern region, two in Prairie Mountain, and one in Winnipeg.

That brings the total for this year to seven, compared to three for all of last year.

The first human case was reported earlier this month, involving a child under ten years old from Southern Health. The child experienced neurological symptoms and was hospitalized.
