A COVID-19 outbreak has suspended emergency room services at Morris General Hospital until further notice.

It is important to note that as per the public health definition when a single case of COVID-19 is identified at a personal care home or health care facility (whether it be resident, patient, staff or visitor) the site is moved to Critical (red) on the province's pandemic response system and listed as having an outbreak.

According to information from Southern Health, officials are reviewing the staffing requirements needed to reopen the ER as soon as possible.

Until then, the health region says people can access emergency care at Altona Community Memorial Health Centre, Boundary Trails Health Centre, or Centre médico-social De Salaberry District Health Centre.

For all emergencies, call 9-1-1.
