Lynn Lake RCMP says they found a man in a local church after he ran from officers in handcuffs.

On Saturday night, a 46-year-old man was being transported from RCMP's Lynn Lake detachment to the Leaf Rapids detachment when police say he took off into the woods. Officers searched for him, but could not find the man.

On Monday, RCMP received a call, saying the suspect wanted to turn himself in. Arriving at a local church, they found the man still in handcuffs. 

The man was taken back into custody without an incident. He is being charged with Being Unlawfully at Large.

A man is on the run after escaping custody, making his way into nearby woods.

RCMP Manitoba is alerting the public of an incident at their Lynn Lake detachment.

At 12:30 p.m., officers getting ready to escort 46-year-old Daryle (Deryle) Richard Johnson to the Leaf Rapids Detachment.

Johnson, while handcuffed, was being escorted out of the detachment. When they got outside, police say he took off before they could secure him in a police vehicle and into the nearby woods on foot. Officers chased after him, losing sight of the man during the chase.

Authorities were asking the public for help.
