Four fires this morning on a Winnipeg street have WFPS reminding homeowners of the importance of arson prevention.

Four separate fires started around 2:03 a.m. today around the Battery Street area, lasting until 2:28 a.m.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) was able to quickly control the fires from spreading, which involved a garage, nearby debris, and two vehicles. All four fires occurred in close proximity.

The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) suspects the fires are related. No injuries are reported at this time.

WFPS is reminding homeowners of arson prevention tips:

  • Dispose of garbage, yard waste, lumber and bulky waste (such as mattresses or couches) properly and promptly.
  • Keep all garbage, bulky waste and firewood well away from your house or garage.
  • Store flammable material safely.
  • Install motion activated lighting in your rear yard and on garages located along rear lanes.
