Winnipeg's Downtown Biz is hoping to drive more people to Chinatown with new investments in the neighbourhood.

The Biz is partnering with the Winnipeg Chinese Cultural and Community Centre to build new infrastructure and expand the annual Chinatown Street Festival.

New additions to the festival include a night market for three evenings, running from 5 pm to 11 pm Friday through Sunday, and an outdoor movie screening.

The Biz says new bike racks and street lamps, all featuring chinese artwork, will be installed to help improve the neighbourhood.

Nearby restaurants will also be involved this year with a promotion called Chow Down in Chinatown, a "passport" where anyone who visits nine restaurants in the neighbourhood will be entered to win a $500 gift card to eat at restaurants in the area.

The Chinatown Street Festival runs August 28 to 30.
