No one was seriously injured following a standoff in Transcona Monday evening.

At around 6:30 p.m. yesterday, officers were called to a home in Transcona following a report of an armed man in distress. Soon after, East District General Patrol officers, accompanied by members of the Tactical Support Team, attended the residence occupied by the male and an adult female.

Officers quickly learned that the male was armed with a rifle, and an armed and barricaded situation ensued.

The Crisis Negotiation Unit was called in, and the woman was safely taken out of the home shortly after 7 p.m.

With a coordinated response by East District General Patrol Units, the Tactical Support Team, the Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems Unit (Drone Unit), and Crisis Negotiators, the male was taken into custody, and the incident was safely resolved after approximately three hours. The male was transported to hospital in stable condition.

No charges have been brought against the adult male involved, and he is not being named to protect the family's identity.
