Paul Manaigre, of the RCMP, said that officers from the Amaranth RCMP Detachment received a call at 2:05 pm advising of a train collision at the rail crossing of PTH#50 and Hwy#16. It is located approximately three kilometres west of Westbourne.

Manaigre said, "A semi-truck carrying a load of gravel was struck by a CP Train as the truck was attempting to complete its crossing. The train struck the rear of the trailer which caused the load to spill.

No injuries were reported and no rail cars were believed to have left the tracks. The CP train was carrying petroleum cars at the time but no spill occurred."

He said that traffic on Hwy#16 was not affected but PTH#50 remains closed while crews remove the damaged semi truck and trailer from the scene.
