A new normal has begun as COVID-19 restrictions ease across the country and many other places around the world.

For months, people have been at home waiting to find out when they can finally make their way back out into public.

Although many restrictions and many dangers remain in place, there is now hope.

Heather Down is a Canadian author who has recently co-authored a book called Not Cancelled: Canadian Caremongering in the Face of COVID-19.

"I realized once the lockdown hit that we have a history happening in Canada, but we also have a social history, and I thought it was important that somebody document it," explained Down.

This heartwarming collection of 49 reflections and narratives paint a beautiful picture of Canadian kindness during an unsettling time. From a talking schnauzer to a priest who taped photos of his congregation to the pews, this book makes people proud to be Canadian.

"We made sure to include a story from every province," said Down.

Today on Connections, Heather will share more about the book and why she decided to write it.
