Winnipeg Police have arrested a man responsible for a carjacking incident last month.

The incident occurred on May 21 around 10:30 a.m. when an adult male attempted to steal a vehicle in the area of McPhillips and Leila Avenue.

Two adult victims were approached by the suspect, who was carrying a weapon and tried unsuccessfully to steal their vehicle. The suspect then approached a second adult victim while still armed and demanded they provide the keys to their vehicle. In this attempt, too, the suspect was unsuccessful.

Two other victims, an adult and a youth, were in the same area and once again, the suspect approached the pair demanding the keys to their vehicle. In this attempt, he succeeded and fled in the victim's vehicle.

No injuries were reported by any of the victims.

Winnipeg Police began an investigation and used surveillance images to identify the male suspect. he was located on June 22 around 9:00 a.m. by officers.

28-year-old Harry Bittern of Winnipeg has been charged with three counts of robbery and possession of a weapon and has been detained in custody, police say.
