Manitobans are invited to join the ONE Worship night band alongside Jordan Janzen and World Vision for an evening of hope, prayer, and worship.

"We're anticipating this event to be a really great night of worship and prayer, specifically for Ukraine and the families that are being affected by the terrible events that are happening with the war," says Janzen.

The ONE Night for Ukraine is happening on Saturday, April 9 at Bethel Community Church starting at 7:00 p.m. The event is free but the hosts need people to pre-register

"We are raising funds for the work that World Vision is already doing. They've been on the field since it all started."

There will be a representative from World Vision Canada at the event sharing what they have seen so far. The Christian organization has been set up in countries that border Ukraine and help with refugees.

"They are providing food, they are providing spaces to sleep and taking care of the children and often the mothers because a lot of the time it's the fathers and older brothers that are staying back to fight. They are meeting the needs of the refugees."

World Vision is hoping to get desperately needed supplies to help families survive now, as well as in the months to come.

"The ONE Worship team is going to be leading the night and they have invited me to join them for a few songs. I'm really excited to be joining their team and we're going to be doing some songs off The Color's new record. Some of the stuff that is more specifically worship."

At this point, roughly four million Ukrainian women and children are refugees because of the war.

"Though we are so far away, what we can offer and bring to the table through prayer and giving, it makes a real difference. We need to respond. We're called to respond. It's not hopeless."

Janzen shares that $15,000 has already been raised and World Vision is hoping to raise a total of $50,000 by the end of Saturday night.
