This weekend will see the implementation of previously announced health orders, and on Tuesday, newer orders will come into effect.

New orders are coming into effect on September 7, giving leeway for events such as weddings planned this weekend. This includes outdoor gathering sizes being reduced to 500 from 1,500.

Fairs and festivals will need to limit themselves to 500 people, but if approved by public health, those events could increase in size.

Museums and galleries will require proof of vaccination starting September 7. Food courts will be required to follow the same regulations as restaurants, requiring proof of vaccination to sit and dine.

Weddings will need to follow the same rules as restaurants if the venue is licensed, starting Tuesday.

Starting Friday

Proof of vaccination will be required at many indoor public spaces. This includes:

• indoor and outdoor ticketed sporting events and concerts;
• indoor theatre/dance/symphony events;
• restaurants (indoor and patio dining);
• nightclubs and all other licensed premises;
• casinos, bingo halls and VLT lounges;
• movie theatres;
• fitness centres, gyms and indoor sporting and recreational facilities (excluding youth recreational sport); and
• organized indoor group recreational classes and activities, and indoor recreational business.

Parents of youth require proof of vaccination to watch their sporting events, dance classes, and other public activities. Professional sporting events and concerts are seeing no change to their orders, requiring full proof of vaccination.

There is no change for places of worship, indoors or outdoors. They can continue to have a 1,500 person capacity outdoors, and 150 people indoors or a 50 per cent capacity, whichever is greater.
