The province is hoping to permit churches to worship together in groups of up to three times larger than regular gatherings.

Premier Brian Pallister is announcing that while regular gatherings are not permitted to occur in groups larger than 100 outdoor, and 50 indoor, the plan is for churches to be allowed to gather in much larger groups.

her indoors, and 100 outdoors.

Option 2:

A maximum group size of 300 people would be permitted to gather outdoors and indoors, with the following stipulations:

  • indoor facilities must not allow gathering over space's 30 per cent capacity limit
  • groups must be divided into subgroups, a maximum of 50 indoors and 100 outdoors
  • subgroups members may not mingle with members of other subgroups
  • subgroups must use either separate entrances and exits or stagger entries
  • outdoor subgroups are limited to 100 people, indoor subgroups limited to 50 people

In both instances, all participants must practice physical distancing. A distance of two-meters between chairs would be required, with the exception of members of the same household.

The province says subgroups much be "separated in rooms or (create) extra distancing between groups." The add that  there will be "no inter-mingling in order to prevent contact with other groups."

Drive-in style gatherings are permitted to continue.

“While we can take pride in the progress we’ve made and the additional steps we are considering today, we must remain vigilant,” Pallister says. "We do not want a COVID comeback, we want a Manitoba comeback.”
