On February 9, 2023, at approximately midnight, the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the first 100 block of Kinver Avenue for the report of family trouble.

North District General Patrol officers, assisted by members of the Tactical Support Team, attended to the residence to ensure the safety of the occupants. Shortly after officers were provided entry into the residence, an adult male emerged from a room and began to approach them with one arm at his back. As the male walked forward, he produced what was determined to be a 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun and held it at his side.

The male proceeded to brandish the firearm in the direction of officers who, due to their proximity, were quickly able to disarm him and safely place him under arrest. The sawed-off shotgun was secured and was found to be loaded with a chambered round of ammunition. Following a search of the male, officers found and seized the following as evidence:

- 12-gauge round x 2
- Folding Knife
- Collapsible Baton
- Approximately 4 grams of Methamphetamine (Estimated Street Value = $200)

Officers continued to clear the residence and verified the safety of all the occupants.
