Sixteen years after a Winnipeg mother was attacked in her home, a police task force is again asking for the public's help to solve the homicide case.

Project Devote, a task force of RCMP and Winnipeg Police Services, says it is actively investigating the homicide of Nicolle Hands.

Hands, who was 32, died in hospital in 2003 after she suffered serious injuries inside her Mountain Avenue apartment.

Police say that in the early morning hours of October 2, 2003, her three children and a babysitter were sleeping in the next room when the babysitter heard a noise, woke up and saw a man standing over Hands.

The man fled and Hands was rushed to hospital, where she died three days later.

Project Devote is dedicated to investigating missing and murdered exploited persons, and is actively investigating the murder of Nicolle Hands.

They are asking for the public’s assistance. If anyone has any information about the murder of Nicolle Hands, please contact the Devote tipline at 1-888-673-3316 or Manitoba Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
