The Winnipeg Police Service says that they are charging two acquaintances for the murder of a 31-year-old man.

On January 7, a man in a 500 block of Burrows Avenue residence was found, shot, by emergency crews.

The 31-year-old victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, which he later died of on January 15.

While the victim was inthe hospital. Winnipeg Police Service officers arrested a 34-year-old suspect at the scene.

The man was previously charged with:

  •  Aggravated Assault
  •  Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
  •  Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  •  Careless Use of a Firearm
  •  Discharge Firearm
  •  Fail to Comply with Recognizance x 2
  •  Possess Firearm

After the victim dies in the hospital, the 34-year-old's charges were changed to Second Degree Murder. The man was taken back into custody at that time.

On Thursday, August 20, police charged a second suspect in the homicide of the 31-year-old man. Police say the new, 24-year-old suspect and the previously-announced 34-year-old suspect were acquaintances.

Police say the pair were together at the time of the shooting.
