Update: Winnipeg police say one suspect has died after an officer-involved shooting took place early Saturday morning.

The shooting occurred around 4:00 a.m. in the Seven Oaks area near Pipeline Road and Adsum Drive.

A resident was putting out his garbage when two armed men confronted him and demanded money. The resident was assaulted by the two men but escaped and called police about the robbery.

The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) responded to the gun call in the 200 block of Adsum Dr.

Soon after, a second call was received reporting windows being broken at an apartment in the same block of Adsum Dr.

Police searched the area and located the two suspects at around 4:19 a.m., during which time police say an officer-involved shooting occurred. It is not known whether these individuals were known to police.

dependent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) is now involved in investigating the officer-involved shooting.

Smythe says no charges have yet been laid in the incident.

This is the third officer-involved shooting to occur in the month of April in Winnipeg.
