A homicide investigation is underway after a gunshot victim died of a medical emergency at home after being released from the hospital.

On June 4, the Winnipeg Police Service responded to reports of gunshots. At approximately 11:00 p.m, they arrived at a residence in the 400 block of Agnes Street.

At the residence, officers discovered a 59-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The man was rushed to hospital in unstable condition. He was later upgraded in the hospital to stable condition.

On June 6, the man was released from the hospital and returned home.

Police say soon after arriving home, the man suffered a medical emergency and subsequently died. The Winnipeg Police Service says they are now investigating the incident as a homicide.
