The Winnipeg Police Service is sharing details about its busy weekend.

On Friday, the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a call at 3:35 p.m in the 300 block of Hargrave Street. Police say they discovered a 60-year-old man inside a residential building suffering from a stab wound.

The victim was sent to the hospital in stable condition.

After investigating, police discovered a 19-year-old suspect.

Police believe that 19-year-old was retaliating after discovering a broken window and approached a group of stable condition people. The man threatened the group and stabbed the 60-year-old.

The 19-year-old is being charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon (x2)
  • Uttering Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm (x4)
  • Mischief Under $5,000/Obstruct in Enjoyment

On Saturday, several incidents occurred.

In the Richmond West neighbourhood, a 14-year-old was in a residence with a 17-year-old acquaintance and another person. The 17-year-old then tried to rob the other two people. The 14-year-old retaliated, severely injuring the 17-year-old. The 17-year-old was stabbed several times.

When police arrived at 12:24 a.m. the 17-year-old was sent to the hospital in unstable condition.

The 14-year-old is facing two charges: Aggravated Assault and Assault with a Weapon.

The 17-year-old is facing two counts of robbery.

 

On Sunday, police arrived at a bar in the 1600 block of Main Street at 1:51 a.m. They discovered a 32-year-old male who was stabbed while walking to the bar.

This investigation is ongoing.

On the same day at  2:02 a.m, police responded to a call at a second bar, this one in the 100 block of Arlington Street, with the report of a man being shot.

Police say they did not find anyone with gunshot wounds but did confirm shots were fired during a dispute. Later in the evening, a 44-year-old man arrived at a nearby hospital with stab wounds from the altercation.

This investigation is ongoing.

At 1:29 p.m. police arrived to a 700 block of Main Street hotel with the report of a stabbing. When arriving, police discovered a 53-year-old man with stab wounds, It is believed that he was stabbed during a robbery.

The man was transported to the hospital in stable condition. 

Police are charging a 48-year-old woman with Robbery.

At a second hotel in the 700 block of Main Street, police responded to a call at 2:55 p.m. Once arriving inside a suite, a 46-year-old male was discovered with serious injuries and a stab wound. He was transported to the hospital in unstable condition.

Police believe his injuries are the result of an allegation of stolen illicit drugs.

A 39-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman are facing two charges, Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Weapon.

Later in the evening, police responded to a fifth Sunday incident. At 9:17 p.m officered arrived at a home in the first 100 block of St. George Road after receiving a report of a stabbing.

Later, a 34-year-old man arrived at a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

While investigating, police discovered the 34-year-old man and a 33-year-old man attempted to rob a 43-year-old of his illicit drugs when the 43-year-old stabbed the 34-year-old.

The 34-year-old male is being charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Break Enter & Commit Robbery - Dwelling House

The 33-year-old man is being charged with:

  • Break Enter & Commit Robbery - Dwelling House
  • Theft Under $5000 (x3)

The 43-year-old resident of the house is being charged with:

  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Possession for the Purpose of Selling Cannabis (Cannabis Act)

 

On Monday, police arrived in the area of Selkirk Avenue and Charles Street following the report of a stabbing.

Once arriving at 1:35 a.m, officers found a severely injured 40-year-old man. He was transported to the hospital in unstable condition. Police believe the man was swarmed by a group of people and then stabbed.

This investigation is ongoing.

At 5:02 a.m, police responded to a report of a stabbing in the 500 block of Ellice Avenue. Police discovered a 47-year-old female suffering from injuries. she was transported to hospital in unstable condition.

Police believe the woman was stabbed during an argument with another female, whom police say is now in custody.

This investigation is ongoing.
