Starting next week, people can file their police reports in person for the first time in months.

Residents have not been able to file a police report in person since March 18. Starting Monday, June 22, people can go to 245 Smith Street between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to file police reports.

Along with filing police reports, between the hours of 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday, residents can also do in-person criminal record/police information checks and non-criminal fingerprinting.

While headquarters will be open, the Winnipeg Police Service is encouraging people to file reports and apply for record checks online.

For those visiting in-person, they are asking residents to practice distancing as they will be limited the number of people allowed inside the building. The WPS warns that delays may occur because of this.

The WPS is asking those exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms to not enter the facility. They are additionally asking those within 14 days of returning from out of the province to avoid coming to police headquarters and use online methods instead.
