A 17-year-old boy from Sandy Bay First Nation is facing several firearms charges. 

Late last week, on September 14, RCMP were at a home on Willow Bay in Portage la Prairie when they located a youth who had a firearm.

RCMP quickly arrested the boy. He has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a restricted firearm/prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and unsafe storage of a firearm. 

He was released from custody on a release order.
