A 14-year-old girl with stage-4 bone cancer is back in the hospital fighting a serious infection.

Joyce Perreault says her daughter, Phoenix, was taken to hospital this week after she developed a fever on Tuesday. Doctors tried to treat her with antibiotics, however, the fever continued to come back.

On Wednesday Phoenix was admitted into hospital with a blood infection. Perreault tells CHVN that Phoenix is now fighting sepsis. The Center For Disease Control describes sepsis as "the body's extreme response to an infection. It is a life-threatening medical emergency. Sepsis happens when an infection you already have triggers a chain reaction throughout your body. Without timely treatment, sepsis can rapidly lead to tissue damage, organ failure, and death."

"Please shout out to all the prayer warriors. Please," Perreault says.

While it is a scary situation for mom, she says that she is grateful for the care Phoenix has been receiving from medical staff.

"I thank God for the guiding the hands, minds and hearts of the doctors. Three of the doctors checked her today and the nurses were so awesome."
