Lots happened this week in the world of Christian school sports, including some first-place finishes from Providence.

Providence Pilots

Both the men and women's soccer teams won the league title, finishing first in their division. The men finished 8-1-1, which tied them with the Universite de Saint-Boniface but the Pilots held the tiebreaker. The men also had the leading scorer, Juan Lafaurie. They face off against fourth-place Canadian Mennonite University on Saturday, October 28.

The women also finished first with a 6-1-3 record. Oddly, that also tied them with Saint-Boniface but the Pilots beat them in both matches during the season. Their first game is against fourth-place Brandon University. That game happens on October 28 as well.

Canadian Mennonite University Blazers

The CMU soccer teams also made the playoffs, with the women finishing third (4-4-2) and the men finishing fourth (2-6-2). The men face the Pilots on Saturday, while the women battle Universite de Saint-Boniface.

Both basketball and volleyball have started up for the Blazers as well. The men's basketball team lost over the weekend, while the women beat Dakota College, while the women's volleyball team won three of four games over the weekend. They defeated Assiniboine Community College, University de Saint-Boniface, and Red River College.

Linden Christian Wings

The junior varsity girls and guys had volleyball tournaments over the weekend and had great finishes. The girls won the Grant Park tournament while the boys almost doubled it, finishing second at Garden Valley.

More important for the team was the pink shirts they were wearing for cancer awareness. One of the player's mom died of cancer a few years ago. The team decided that this was a great way to recognize her.
