The province of Manitoba is working with Crime Stoppers to teach the public how to identify and report methamphetamine-related crimes.

New funds will allow Crime Stoppers to create a multimedia campaign to educate Manitobans on meth trafficking. The funds will also be used to reward Manitobans calling in with tips.

“Law enforcement can not win this battle on their own,” Paul Johnson, chair of Winnipeg Crime Stoppers says.  “They need everyone’s help to provide the information they need to stop the flow of methamphetamine into our communities."

He also adds that "every piece of information" is important.

Crimestoppers hopes that the funding will bring in more tips to help take the illicit drugs off of the streets.

“This partnership with Crime Stoppers will help ensure Manitobans with important information to share can feel safe making an anonymous report to better their community," Justice Minister Cliff Cullen says.

The province believes the "made in Manitoba" solution will help address the current meth crisis.
