Premier Brian Pallister made a major funding announcement as the country is remembering veterans who've given their lives, as will be commemorated this Monday on Remembrance Day.

The announcement was made on Thursday.

"I am so pleased to announce today that our government will adjust the Video Lottery Terminal Revenue Sharing agreements with veterans organizations," Pallister says. "Effective immediately, veterans organizations will receive an additional five per cent of all the VLT revenues from machines operating in their facilities. An estimated $600,000 per year in additional revenue."

Pallister also announced that the province is moving ahead to legislate the exemption of all veterans organizations from municipality property taxes. A round of applause went forth at this announcement, as Pallister added it was an election promise they made.

He adds a third announcement. "I am also pleased to announce that our military memorial conservation fund is now opened to veterans' organizations, municipalities, and private groups to help with the important work of preserving and maintaining Manitoba's memorials. This fund will generate about $100,000 per year."
