There are 12 more people with active COVID-19 cases in the hospital and a slight increase in intensive care patients Friday.

There are 715 people in the hospital, with 606 of those cases being active. This is an overall increase of four total hospitalizations and 12 active cases.

There are 52 people in intensive care with 46 of those people having active cases. This is an overall decrease of one person in intensive care, and an increase of two active cases.

Unified Health Sector Incident Command co-lead, Dr. David Matear, says in a Friday press conference that omicron hospitalization stays are much shorter compared to Delta.

There are five new deaths, bringing the total number to 1,543.

Outbreaks

There are new outbreaks at Deer Lodge Centre, Lodge 2 west, and Riverview Health Centre, unit 3 East, both in Winnipeg.

  • Health Science Centre, units GH4, GA3 and GA4, Winnipeg
  • Misericordia Health Centre, unit C6, Winnipeg

 

New cases

There are 898 new COVID-19 cases Friday, bringing the total number of recorded cases to 118,862. Self-administered rapid tests are not included in this total.

There are 29,720 active cases and 87,599 recoveries.

Manitoba's test rate is 32.1 per cent.
