The Shellmouth Reservoir outflow will be increasing today, causing parts of Manitoba's waterways to rise.

The Shellmouth Reservoir outflows will be increasing by 1,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) from its typical 25 cfs.

The province says this is part of normal spring operations.

A two-to-three foot increase is expected for the Assiniboine River's water levels from the Shellmouth Reservoir to Russell. Also anticipated is a one- to two-ft. increase from Russell to Brandon.

As the river moves downstream, Manitoba Infrastructure’s Hydrologic Forecast Centre says the river's water levels are expected to lower.
