An RCMP police dog is being credited after locating two stacks of cash following a disturbance last week.

RCMP in The Pas were called to the hospital in town shortly after 9 p.m. for the report of a man being aggressive with staff and punching the glass in the admitting room.

By the time officers arrived, the man had fled. He was later spotted on 2nd Street in The Pas. When officers arrived, the man started running, leading officers on a brief foot pursuit.

He was quickly arrested, and a search led officers to seize cash, a knife, illicit cannabis, cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Police Dog Services were also called to the scene to search the area. Police Dog Phlex searched the area and recovered two stashes of Canadian currency totalling over $17,000.

The 21-year-old suspect is facing several charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes.

He remains in custody.
