Two teenagers were caught with heavy feet on Sunday evening racing to McDonald's.

The Manitoba RCMP says that Oakbank RCMP stopped two vehicles travelling west on Highway 44 north of Winnipeg. Police say a red Camaro was being driven by a 17-year-old male, and a grey Hyundai Genesis was being driven by an 18-year-old male. Both registered on the officer's radar at 189 km/h.

However, the driver of the Genesis admitted that he had been travelling even faster earlier. The driver of the Camaro said he was the "slow one" because his vehicle is governed at 190 km/h.

The boys told the officer that "things got out of hand" while driving to McDonald's in Selkirk.

The drivers both received two fines. First, they were charged for going 89 km/h over the posted speed limit, and fined $1,215. They were also both given a ticket for driving carelessly, which came with a fine of $672.

The RCMP says both drivers have also been issued a Serious Offence Notice which results in a license review with MPI.
