Update: Four people are facing life-threatening injuries after a van and train collided.

At 11:30 a.m. at a CP rail crossing at Road 126 near Highway 16, approximately one-kilometer east of Strathclair, a serious collision occurred. RCMP say a train consisting of two locomotive units and a van collided.

The van had four passengers. As of Tuesday afternoon, RCMP say all four are facing life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses tell CHVN the crash appeared to have involved a construction van. They also say emergency crews have placed two tarps over the van.

Officers are remaining at the scene of the crash.

 

This is a developing story. RCMP says they will provide more details tomorrow morning.

The Manitoba RCMP is asking residents in western Manitoba to avoid the area of a serious collision between a vehicle and a train.

The collision occurred on the CP Rail line near Strathclair just after 11 a.m. the RCMP says in a tweet.

The RCMP says several emergency personnel are on the scene, including officers.

There is little information at this time, however, the RCMP says they will provide more later.

Strathclair is approximately 225 km northwest of Winnipeg.
