As Manitoba RCMP continue to adapt to COVID-19, they are still working hard to offer quality service to all communities in the province.

RCMP Assistant Commissioner Jane MacLatchy says Manitobans can be assured officers will continue to work in the interest of all citizens.

“While how you interact with us may change slightly, I want to assure you that officers are going to continue to patrol communities, respond to calls, and investigate criminal activity across the province of Manitoba," MacLatchey says.

"In addition, significant planning is underway to ensure that the Manitoba RCMP can continue to provide you and the communities we serve with critical policing services no matter what the circumstances are.”

Significant planning is underway to ensure that the RCMP can continue to provide care to communities.

In order to provide the best care, however, RCMP are asking for help from community members.

“To help keep our officers on the roads and in our communities, if your matter is not urgent, I’d ask that you not visit any of our detachments," says MacLatchy. "If you need to speak with an officer or if you want to file a criminal report, please call ahead and make arrangments. The officer may be able to take the report over the phone or may direct you to meet with our members at an alternate location.”

RCMP are encouraging people to call 911 if you have an emergency, but say those who call will be asked additional questions about their health to protect the health and safety of the officers.

Officers will also be wearing personal protective equipment as a precaution.

“To truly get through this, we’re all going to need to work together. Be kind to one another, take care of those around you, and do everything you personally can to adhere to the recommendations of public health officials," says MacLatchy.

"These are truly unprecedented times but rest assured, the Manitoba RCMP will be here for you and your communities.”
