A traffic stop in Amaranth, Manitoba earlier this week quickly turned into something much larger.

At around 2:15 a.m. on Monday, Amaranth RCMP were on patrol when a vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 50 in Amaranth was seen without proper plates. A traffic stop was quickly initiated.

As the officer approached the vehicle, they noticed individual baggies of drugs. The two females in the vehicle, both from Sandy Bay, were taken into custody.

While searching the vehicle, the officer found several baggies throughout the car of a substance that appeared to be crystal methamphetamine. They also located other drug paraphernalia and a scale.

Both of the females were arrested and face trafficking charges. The driver was released with a court date while the passenger remains in custody.
