Personal care home residents in Winnipeg are sharing their advice on love.

"One of my staff approached me last week and she had this fabulous idea," says Jennifer Kloss, the Manager of Spiritual Health and Therapeutic Services at the Misericordia Health Centre in Winnipeg. "Erin suggested that we circulate some of the dating advice that our residents have."

After hearing some of the advice, Erin wrote out their thoughts on a whiteboard and then shared the pictures on social media to spread the love.

"The cool thing about working with older adults is that they have such a large amount of experience and history and they love to share it in the form of stories."

One of the couples living at Misericordia Place has been married for 55 years.

"His advice is to treat your girl like royalty, like a princess. Then, Evelyn shared with us, to find the right fellow. She shared that she had found the right fellow."

Some of the advice was more comical in nature.

"Angelina also shared some advice. She's 108. Her advice is to make sure that he had a loaded wallet."

Kloss notes that February is therapeutic recreation month.

"The staff that created this idea are therapeutic recreation professionals and they work hard every day to make sure that our residents have the most exciting and meaningful days."
