The community of Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) is mourning the loss of a friend who was a "Christ-following, loyal friend and fun-loving individual who made others feel special."

Kevin Kilbrei, Director of Communications and Marketing at Canadian Mennonite University, says, "Prayer was CMU’s initial response," to the news of Taylor Pryor's disappearance.

"Student Life staff also immediately began to coordinate with the family the participation of CMU students and alumni in the search effort," says Kilbrei.

On October 19, The Winnipeg Police Service released that missing 21-year-old Pryor was located deceased.

Kilbrei says, "CMU hosted a gathering at its chapel on Saturday morning when the news broke.

"This was a forum where people connected to Taylor could join together in a safe space and begin processing their loss. Counselling and support services were immediately made available at this venue to those gathered, and continues to be offered to those that seek help through this event."

Extra counselling and support services will be available to CMU staff, faculty, and students for the coming weeks says Kilbrei.

"A memorial service for the CMU community and friends is planned for later this week," says Kilbrei.

"It will be a time to remember Taylor and grieve the loss of a friend and student. It will also be a time to embrace and support Taylor’s family."

Kilbrei says, "An international student I know said Taylor was the first Canadian student to go out of her way to introduce herself and welcome him."

CMU is asking for prayer for its students, staff and faculty.

Kilbrei says, "We especially remember the family at this time and pray for their healing through their grief."
